Geoscientist

MEO Australia Limited is seeking a Geoscientist to join its exploration team.

MEO is a small oil and gas explorer with four operated permits in the Carnarvon Basin and the Timor Sea. It is an active company which, within the last 2 ½ years, has:

  • drilled three wells
  • shot and processed four 3D seismic surveys 
  • processed two 3D PSDMs 
  • reprocessed existing 3Ds

In addition, MEO actively evaluates new venture opportunities on a continuing basis. MEO uses high quality and in-depth technical analysis as a key aspect of its approach to exploration decision making.

The Geoscientist should have at least 5 years or more experience, be an experienced seismic interpreter and prospect generator, and ideally have experience in working new ventures. The Geoscientist will work with members of the current exploration team and, depending on experience, will be expected to fulfil a lead technical role or grow into that role with additional experience and training. You will be expected to make presentations to exploration management, the board and JV partners.

MEO licences Petrel interpretation software as its corporate platform, and uses SMT-Kingdom for opportunity evaluation purposes.

Operated Permits

As a key member of the exploration staff you will be expected to work in a team environment to identify and develop leads and prospects, and mature them to a drill ready status.

New Ventures

You will be expected to work as part of a team in opportunity evaluation drawing on your experience. You will be expected to context the opportunity to the regional geological setting and provide a full evaluation of all the geological and geophysical data.

Operations

You will be expected to be involved in operational work, including site survey interpretation and contractor liaison.
